Smelly feet is a common issue. This is generally caused by bacteria living in your shoes or socks which can give you Tinea Pedis (athlete’s foot). Bacteria and fungi love warm moist areas and shoes and wet, sweaty socks are perfect for this. People with sweaty feet who wear the same socks for more than one day increase their chances of having bacteria growing on their feet or socks.
This produces a cycle where people treat their feet with powders from chemist etc, but they don’t treat their shoes or wash their socks. This is why teenage boys are sometimes criticised for having smelly feet because they go to school and take their shoes and socks off but sometimes wear the same socks again the next day.
